Inspired by the scenic beauty of Italy's countryside, Scott Cleek's most recent collection of landscapes entitiled "Remembering Tuscany," aims to capture the timeless spirit, serenity, and mood of this beautiful land. His heavily worked canvases are rich with earthy colors, thick with texture, and glowing with numerous glazes that give each piece a romantic, old world feel. "My paintings are not of real places but rather of memories. They are created with the intent of capturing moments that stir emotion, evoke memory, set a mood, or simply allow us to dream. It is what the canvas evokes rather than what it represents that is the utmost importance."


A graduate of San Diego State University with a degree in Graphic Design, Cleek has spent his entire career in the art world. Working in advertising as a graphic designer, managing several fine art galleries, and finally as an art educator, he has spent years perfecting his imaginative and highly indivdualized style.
